What is the best way to remove a collection March 2006 from your credit report? Paid to delete, 1-2 punch, or is there another way? Thank you for your time.

Best Answer: Are you contacting the original creditor or the collection agency? If you've sent a letter to the collection agency and they haven't responded, send another dispute to the credit bureau with a copy of your letter to the collection agency. Indicate that it has been over 30 days (you have to give them 30 days) and they have failed to respond. The item should be removed.

Reply:I'am on a sue the CA for deletion kick (for small amounts) First off welcome to CB second you should read the newbie section and the FCRA and the FDCPA then go from there D/V is requesting validation from the CA Collection Agency that the debt is yours when you send that (D/V)they are to mark your account indispute if they don't they are in violation and can be sued for $1,000 but lets not get ahead of yourself
before you do anything read what I suggested unless you have have recieved a letter from the CA in the last 30 days you don't have to do anything TODAY but read.

Reply:March 2006. What is DVed the CA?

Reply:Have you DVed the CA yet?

Reply:how old is it? Did you dispute it with the cable company? Did you offer to pay for the 7 weeks that you DID have service?

Reply:It was a cable and internet bill of $292. I refused to pay because my cable and Internet service went out for 5 weeks out of 12 weeks time period. What other information do you need?

Reply:we still need more information from you to give better advice
but you can dispute as "not mine"
"no knowledge of this account"
"I have no account with XYZ company that is currently past due"
"I have no account with XYZ comapany that is a currently open account"
WAY too many variables

Reply:Any other input?

Reply:Can anyone else help me?

Reply: Simple dispute for example "not mine"?

I wouldn't dispute as 'not mine', unless your 100% certain it really is not yours. Try 'no knowledge'. Of course I'm new and not a pro, but just my .2

Reply:Simple dispute for example "not mine"?

Reply:too many variables…
many have luck with simple disputes
others use the 1-2 punch
PFD works as well (IF they can validate)
So I wasted $ 20 to join the National Space Society .
Does someone from another credit union that allows the membership because of the NSS membership and perhaps a bit easier to get in?
Thanks .

Reply:Woot! I just got this email:
QUOTEMr xxxxxx,

I apologize for the inconveniences but, my initial response to you was as a result of your indication of repeated faxes and I was unaware that a second online application was submitted. Unfortunately, I have not completed all of the online application's received from yesterday at that time. As per your most recent email below I did search for a second application in your name. I have located an application that is acceptable with the photocopy that we had received.

Again, I apologize for any inconveniences that this may have caused.

Sincerely,
NASA FCU Representative

Welcome to NASA Federal Credit Union!
Thank you for your recent online membership application for NASA Federal Credit Union. Your new account has been opened and you will be receiving a welcome letter and member ID card via US mail within the next 10 business days. If you would like to start using your account before receiving your information by mail, please contact us directly at 1-888-627-2328 ext 603 for your account number.
Additionally, if you elected to make your first deposit by cash or check, you may stop by any Branch (locations are listed on our website) and make a deposit or please send a check, made payable to yourself, to:
NASA Federal Credit Union
PO Box 1910
Bowie, MD 20717-1910
As a reminder, please do not send cash via the US mail.
Again, welcome to NASA Federal Credit Union and we look forward to serving you and your family's financial needs for years to come.
Sincerely,
NASA Federal Online Membership Team
Yay! I wonder why the second application was acceptable with my photocopy anyway…since it was exactly the same…

Reply:A notary can notarize a photocopy or scanned image of the liscense as a true and accurate copy of the original.
A driver's liscense is a good way to verify an identity.
And I believe financial institutions are required to gather information that will substantiate the indentity of their prospective customers to their satisfaction.

Reply:
a NOTARIZED copy of my license.
Umm, that doesn't make sense. Your license is already signed and you can't notarize a document unless it's signed in the presence of a notary. Plus the notary usually uses your driver's license as proof of your identity and signature. It's a cyclical argument.
JFCU required the same thing.

Reply: a NOTARIZED copy of my license.
Umm, that doesn't make sense.
Reply:NASA sucks IMO… I wasted the energy sending all sorts of crap to them, and they recinded the instant approval I got.
Better CU's out there, may be time to move on.

Reply: My grandpa happens to be a notary public so I get my docs done for free.
Generally not wise to have the notary done by a relative…you really would be better served to have someone who can be considered a disinterested third party, and it is difficult to put relatives in that category.

Reply:The court house usually has a notary as well. It's like $5
My grandpa happens to be a notary public so I get my docs done for free.

Reply:Check with your local bank. Most have a notary service free to customers.

Reply:My suggestion is to take "baby-steps." You are still young and trust me, CC's will come with time. This is coming from someone who's had it all before, and lost it. I can assure you, there are few things time cannot mend. I am living proof. Even though your thirst for more credit is laudable(most people your age are busy partying at this time of night), I urge you to use this time to achieve better grades(I'm sure you're a smart guy). Anyways, good luck to you. You are definitely someone I want to see doing well.

Reply: I've applied twice online for NASA FCU membership, and was told that my application would need to be reviewed by a teller both times. I faxed my license, a utility bill, and a bank statement to them twice, and was told then that I would need a NOTARIZED copy of my license. Guess having knowledge of and access to my credit report and all this other information isn't enough.
What a pain. I'm not going to pay to get my license notarized. So I've wasted $20 to join the National Space Society…
Does anyone know of another credit union that allows membership because of NSS membership and might be a bit easier to get into?
Thanks…
If that is the toughest issue you have to overcome to get in with what many feel is a great CU, then consider yourself lucky!

Reply: Hey Zac, it's nice to see you finally got approved for a couple of those cards you had applied for! WTG, Buddy!!
Thanks! Today I found a nice surprise in the mailbox…my new Chase card Even though it has a pretty crappy limit…at least I've got my foot in the door..

Reply:I can see how that would be a bit annoying, but personally I'd go ahead and do it. Your bank or credit union where you normally do your banking will probably notarize things for you for free. I know mine does. But in my case I also have a friend at work who will notarize for me for free, so this wouldn't even be an inconvenience as far as I'm concerned.

Reply:Do you have a fraud alert on your files? MAybe you should send them the notarized copy… you do have a few dollars invested into it, and it's a pretty decent CU.

Best Answer: When you go to My Q&A and you are signed on your address will always show. Click the link below the about line that says "Public view of my profile" and you will see what everyone else sees. Your email address should not be visible. When I view your profile I can't see your return email address. If it is, contact Yahoo Answers Team via the forum link at the top of the page. It's not too hard to guess when you are on yahoo answers and use the same user name as your email account though.

Reply:when you say 11 years old, do you mean it was last paid and current 11 years ago, or it was opened 11 years ago?
also, is it a positive account?

Reply:I called expguyan and tried to remove an old address and they said I can't do this because a creditor is still reporting it. The OC account shows account closed by credit granto's request with a recent balance: $42. This account should have been removed from my report because it is over 11 years old?

Reply:welcome you are..

Reply:
right on thanks!

Reply:i would..in fact it is not a requirement to have yor employer listed on your credit report.. if you do list it only gives the goons info on you…(ie) so now they know where to call ya if you do not answer on the home phone

Reply:Ok.. should I delete my former employers as well?

Reply:and even if you DID have a report sent to an old address…the CRA monkeys don't pay attention to that

Reply:
that makes more sense

Reply:You dont dispute your current – only past.

What is better .
Attack each account (all the credit, it reports on the posting) or to attack individual credit report?
Or others?

Best Answer: So you can help the whole organization

Reply:I just have a question about the credit cure software. Is there ANY possible chance of it messing with other programs? Has anyone had any complaints about it? Our computer is only about one year old but my hubby, who maintains it, will most likely not want me to download it because sometimes when I get programs off of the internet it screws up stuff.
My 2nd question is: Does anyone have an Excel template that they'd be willing to share? If not I will design my own but I'm just not sure how to arrange it. Thanks.

Reply:I found creditcure after I was halfway complete. I had built a basic excel spreadsheet. I did not jump horses midstream. Organization is key tenet in cleaning up CRs.

Reply:I'll be using a spreadsheet. I have creditcure, but unfortunately, without a "help" or directions, it takes way too long for me to figure out how the thing works and what all of the codes/buttons are for, and I'm software savvy.

Reply:I did tradelines. Recommend that you get organized with either an excel spreadsheet or use the creditcure software. Organization is essential before the attack

Reply:That's what I was wondering – thanks pryan. That is also how I started as well. It was getting confusing so I only did a couple to start.
Thanks again!

Reply:I do tradelines at a time…rather than CRAs…

Reply:Sorry, I'll clarify. I understand how to take care of things. What I'm asking is more organizational in nature.
Is it better to clean up your credit one CRA at a time? Meaning, sticking with a single CRA and working through errors on that report, then going on to the next CRA.
Or, is it better to clean it up one account at a time – if that account is across several reports, then addressing that account in relation to all reports it's on.
Is that clearer?

Reply:
not too clear on what you're asking..however, i think you're asking if you should question the individual accounts as well as dipute the items on the credit reports? If you are asking this, it's called the 1-2 punch and there are numerous threads on this board. simply do a search for the 1-2 punch. is this what you're asking?

Best Answer: Nope.

In fact, the higher your credit line the better your score. It even sais that right on your credit report. I have noticed that over the years the only thing that has really changed on my credit profile is my credit line. And over the last few years my score has gone up as a result.

Reply:I just applied for and got a Juniper, it's been reporting on all 3 for the past week, I still haven't recieved
my card yet. But I have an account when I applied and was accpeted. If I were you I'd keep the card and
work it and PIF…better offers will come!

Reply:what card is it? Some are better than others for CLIs

Reply:Thank you very much for your help.

Reply:If you don't get the limit you want, either use it alot and PIF or use it a little. Depending on the CC, you can ask for a CLI in 6 months to 1 yr – a few are very generous earlier.
I would not cancel it immediately – wait at least a yr and see what happens.

Reply:Yes, it will still show on your credit report. The account is open once you are approved. Activating the card just shows the company you have received it.

I called and removed all the old addresses on University a few months back. It is simply an address list that I live in now. Well, today some PO box appeared on my TU report, which listed as a previous address, and only reported on 6-20-07. I've never had a mailbox, and nothing unusual has appeared on my credit report. The PO Box is listed in the city, I'm listing .
Just wonder what actions I should take.

Reply:Should I just go to my Post Office and ask about the PO Box listed on my report and see if its in my name?

Reply:I had a new address show up on experian and transunion a couple months ago, it showed up as a current address. The address is a small town about 20 miles away, and was 202 west main street, I drove to the town and the actually house number is where a small creek is, it skips 202. I have nothing new on my credit report, I am curious about the skip tracing tho.. How does that work??

Reply: No weird INQ on my report. I applied for 3 new credit cards recently and those are showing but other then that nothing.
Its listed as this 27 PO BOX 27, with my city and zip code, which doesnt even seem like a valid PO Box to me.
"xxx PO BOX xxx" is the format that TransUnion normally uses to display post office box addresses. They repeat the actual box number as a prefix.
I would contact the CRA and request the removal of that address, and you might also try to find out if it was/is attached to a specific TL. That might give you a clue whether it is a CA trick. If it isn't a trick, I'd assume it could be related to fraud or ID theft and take action to protect your credit and identity, as others have suggested above.

Reply:ASSet Acceptance often place dummy PO Box addresses when pulling a file for a skip trace.  Ironically there may be more evil to this.  A new address triggers a notice to other CA's and if their automated mailings respond to the fake address they spin their wheels.  Meanwhile ASSet has first crack before the competition.     Is the address something like    123POB123  or 321POB321      Generally its ASSet;
In fact they (AA) routinely pull hards on TU with these dummy addresses.

Reply:This is how my identity was stolen. They originally used my address to open the accounts online and then immediately changed their mailing address to a PO Box in my city. I would be very concerned.
I would also find out what creditor reported that address so you can file fraud papers etc.
do you have a freeze on your account?
I would be very concerned as I have been there.

Reply:Whoa! Identity theft is the first thing that would cross my mind if that happened to me!
Better safe than sorry… check it out, at least see which TL is reporting that address.

Reply:I would be very concerned about possible id theft.

Reply:YMMV, but my DW had an address pop up on her TU a couple of months ago as her current address. It wasn't a PO but an actual address in a totally different city and state. So in this case I went online and was able to check who the address belonged to. However, I noticed that a CA listed on her CR had "updated" their account on the same day it popped up so I assumed it was an incorrect address that the CA submitted. I gave it a few days and then it dissappeared never to come back. If it's listed as a current address, and you haven't checked, see if anyone recently updated one of your accounts. Hopefully, even though your situation is a little different, it was only a mistake and not an attempt at identity theft. In either case keep a close eye on your inquiries and TLs.
God Bless

Reply:No weird INQ on my report. I applied for 3 new credit cards recently and those are showing but other then that nothing.
Its listed as this 27 PO BOX 27, with my city and zip code, which doesnt even seem like a valid PO Box to me.

Reply:I would be concerned. Im sure people have had their identities stolen from someone in their own town before. Hence trash digging.

Reply:I'd be very worried. If it is "you" (same name) then
maybe you can get the Postal Service to tell you when
"you" opened the PO box. And maybe even help you
catch someone committing mail fraud.
Bills and default notices that get sent to that box are
notices that count as "delivered" to you, but obviously
you miss the notification. You can suddenly find your
accounts in big trouble.
If this was a random error, some random stranger has
only a chance in 100 of living in your city. Check it out,
you may have a problem.
ER

Reply:Yikes. In general, a PO box randomly appearing would scare me, but maybe less so considering it's in the same city. Watch your INQs, I guess.

Ok, I had a Chase card with a $ 1,500 limit that I max out was stupid. After months of hanging out in or around the credit limit, I made a big $ 800 payment to the balance down to $ 700 and lower utilization to bring my share. Chase came almost immediately my credit limit up to $ 900. I (again stupid) enough film – I called and asked and they said that there are some derogatory information on my credit report, which prompted it to my universal default and lower my limit. This was in 2005.
So last month after languished the credit limit (once again, stupid) way too long, I was able to reduce another major payment ($ 750) to my use of percentage, and then they lower my credit card limit, this time to 400 $. So again, too large a percentage of payment to reduce utilization, they are the frontier, and my goal is to go back up.
I have $ 118.95 on this card. Next month I'll pay it off and close. I hate it too much to these sockdrawer f *** er. Hell, for all know what I pay, I off balance and would fall even my credit limit lower.
Screw Chase.

Reply:What usually happens is:
You got the card because they pulled a report that did not have the charge off or lates, the negative happened after you got the card, or Chase acquired your card account from a bank it bought. Then in a review they noticed the negative. If you applied now, they would not have approved.
Thus at every chance they get, they will lower the limit.
They can't lower it below your balance cause too many people wiht charge offs will charge off again.
-Sean

Reply: Basically Chase does not want card users with charge offs, recent lates, etc etc If they missed it first time around and they find it, they lower. If i was a bank, I'd do the same thing.
Sean
But what sucks is that they'll let you languish around paying them big interest on high balances (on time), then when you're able to finally get the balance down, they reward you by dropping your limit.
I know it's their right to do it if they feel I'm a risk, but it's also my right to cut their card, close the account, and never deal with them again.
Just had to vent. I felt I was making headway, and they peed all over my parade.

Reply:They lowered my limit a few months back.
AFter I called them, they said it was a mistake (First they said it was due to lates on my report. I told them I have none). They pulled a soft and we reviewed my clean report togehter. They then put my limit back up and approved my priorityclub card that I had just applied for.
Basically Chase does not want card users with charge offs, recent lates, etc etc If they missed it first time around and they find it, they lower. If i was a bank, I'd do the same thing.
Sean

Reply: I would close it too. Being treated like that does not even deserve being considered for another purchase ever again.
Congrats on the closure (and paying off the card).
Yeah, it doesn't make a lick of sense. It's almost like they don't even want my business.

Reply: Ok, so I had a Chase card with a $1500 limit that I proceeded to stupidly max out. After months of hanging out at or around the credit limit, I made a big $800 payment to bring the balance down to $700 and lower my utilization percentage. Chase almost immediately bumped my credit limit down to $900. I (again, stupidly) let that slide — I called and asked, and they said that there was some derogatory information on my credit report which prompted them to Universal Default my rate and lower my limit. This was in 2005.
So this past month, after hovering around the credit limit (yet again, stupidly) for far too long, I was able to make another big payment ($750) to bring my utilization percentage down, and AGAIN they lower my credit limit, this time to $400. So again, big payment to reduce utilization percentage, they drop the limit, and my utilization is back up.
I have $118.95 to go on this card. Next month, I'm paying it off and closing it. I hate them too much to even sockdrawer this f***er. Hell, for all I know, I pay off the balance, and they'd drop my credit limit even lower.
Screw Chase.
I would close it too. Being treated like that does not even deserve being considered for another purchase ever again.
Congrats on the closure (and paying off the card).

What if I am approved for a credit card and drag them to my credit card and I can call my result from them or they will not tell me what it was? I kno you can get a copy of your credit report when you get dropped. I have approved as 2 weeks and wonder. Thank you.

Best Answer: You are wrong. The credit card company will STILL have a record of that charge off. There is no law requiring credit cards to give you an account. They can refuse even if your credit report/score is good.

It sounds like you've used or plan to use some special "trick" to remove legitimate negatives from our credit report. I hope you didn't pay anyone for this. It is highly unlikely that legitimate negatives will be removed. But if one does fall thru the crack and get removed from your credit report, don't be surprised when it shows back up in a few months when the creditor updates or the debt is sold off to another collection agency.

Reply:I recently bought a car….my TU FICO (auto enhanced) was 781….by FICOs are below

Reply:I always pull my score from EQ before going to my CU and each time it has been the exact same score as the one they pulled. On the other hand the score my bank gave me was 30 pts lower than the score I pulled from EQ. When I went to an auto dealership, the score they pulled was 20 pts higher than my EQ score.

Reply:And FWIW, the last time I bought a car, my FICO score from the dealership was exactly the same as the one I pulled from myFICO earlier that morning.

Reply:The credit card companies don't use a credit score solely for approval.
They use an internal scorecard based on various factors, such as the information supplied on the application, the info on your credit reports, any information they have about you from internal databases, FICO scores, etc.
This information isn't just used in the approval process, but also to set initial credit limits, APRs, etc. if approved.

Reply:My local CU has given me my score each time I asked for it. I also asked a bank that I applied with for my score and they gave it to me. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Reply:id be asking a cc company, in particular amex. haha.

Reply:As Multiplier said they MIGHt but I know that Auto places can be tough to get them to do it and AGAIN it would be an "auto enhanced" (I beleive) which would not give you any clue for CC's or other types of credit…..Again I BELEIVE this is correct but I may be wrong.

Reply:Some might. It can't hurt to ask. My CU has always told me my score when I got a pull. I've never asked any other creditors.

Reply:wat about when u get an auto loan or something, they pull ur credit n get a score. they dont share the score with u if u ask?

Reply:I dont beleive they will give you your credit score as it can and will be different for almost every place you go…the ONLY place to get your FICO is from MYFICO.com…..OC's use thier own formula most of the time making most credit scores more of a guide rather then fact. You can get you FAKOS for "free" if you sign up for one of the services available and then cancel before the "trial period". OR you can order your scores from MyFIco and get you "actual: FICO scores which will give you a good indication of where you stand.

Reply: Like if i am approved for a credit card and they pull my credit, can i call up and get my score from them or will they not tell me what it was? I kno you can get a copy of the credit report if you get declined. I got approved like 2 weeks ago and was wondering. Thanx.
No as I'm aware of. You can only get a report for free, and the scrore is about $8 of additional charge
